Seasonally Scattered Shaker Card

Hi Stampers!

I hope you are having a wonderful weekend so far!  We are having a barbeque with some friends this afternoon.  Hamburgers and hot dogs, cold beer, corn on the cob, good friends and the pool!  It's going to be a great summer afternoon.

Today I'm going to share with you a card that I sent my cousin and her husband for the wedding anniversary.  This card features the Seasonally Scattered stamp set which will be available in the Holiday catalog on August 28th. When I first saw this set, I kept thinking about embossing the images on window sheets.  I'm serious.  I was thinking about it constantly!  So....I had to try it out.

The first attempt was a mess.  Mostly because I am a clumsy girl who stamped the image perfectly in Versamark and then proceeded to drop the stamp back down over top of the first perfectly stamped image.  Sigh.  Luckily, my second attempt was much better and the only casualty was a small piece of window sheet.

After embossing the stamp in Pool Party embossing powder, I thought to myself that this would make an awesome shaker card!  Plus I have so many fabulous new sequins that are just waiting to be used.  The In Color sequin pack is a great deal - there are sooooo many sequins in that little package - it will last you a really, really long time!

Here is a photo of the card laying down after I shook around the sequins inside!  Want to know how I made the space for the sequins to fit?  Did you ever use up all of the Dimensionals on a sheet?  You basically have a border remaining on the paper backing.  Normally I chop these borders up so I have very small Dimensionals to use on very small or intricate pieces of cardstock.  For this, I cut them into long strips and made a Dimensional frame on the back of the window sheet.  Then I cut a frame out of Strawberry Slush cardstock to hide the Dimensionals.

To finish it off I added in some Pistachio Pudding bakers twine.

And of course, I stamped the interior of the card.  This is from the Perfect Couple stamp set (retired) from the 2014 Occasions catalog.  I just think it's so cute!

Thanks for checking out my blog today!  I love questions and feedback in the comments!

Wonderful Words Challenge

Hi Stampers!

I'm a fan of reading the Moxie Fab World blog.  I have gotten a lot inspiration from their posts for my cards and scrapbook layouts.  They recently posted a challenge to use word dies in a project - the Wonderful Words Challenge.  Word dies are a hot new trend in the papercrafting world and I could not resist making a card for this challenge.

I decided to combine the word die with a new technique I am working on which is using more watercoloring in my projects.

To create this card front, first I used the Positively Chevron stamp to heat emboss the image on a sheet of watercolor paper.  I used white embossing powder to really make the image stand out.   Then I used ink refills and my aqua painter to create the ombre effect.  I pull out a piece of wax paper, and I add one drop of each ink refill I'm going to use to the paper to create a little pallet.  Using the Aquapainter, I pick up a little bit of the lightest color (Pool Party) and then just wash it over one end of the design.  Then I go to the next darkest color (Coastal Cabana) and repeat the process, overlapping the washes to get a blended look.  Then I did a wash of Island Indigo and finally a wash of Midnight Muse.  I really saturated the paper so I used my Heat Tool on setting 1 to dry it.  Then I used Tombow liquid glue to adhere the watercolor paper down to the first mat (Basic Black).  I did this just to make sure I had a secure bond between the papers in case the watercolor paper started to warp from being wet.  The rest of the card was assembled with Snail adhesive.  I used the Expression Thinlits to cut out the word "love" to add to the lower right corner.  When adhering these very thin words, I pull out my waxed paper again, make a drop of Tombow liquid glue and then I use a toothpick to put glue on the back of the word.  I have found this to be the least messy process!

My hubby loved getting this card for our anniversary!  It was masculine but the script word added just enough "softness" for  an anniversary card.

I hope this inspires you to try using word dies and watercoloring!  Any questions?  Just leave them in the comments below!

Love Anniversary Card

Hi Stampers!

I'm back!  I'm going to try to be a good blogger.  I hope I can.  It's been a very busy couple months and with the non-stop snow and craziness at work I just haven't had the time or motivation to post.  This weather just puts me in such a grumpy mood all of the time.  I'm counting down the days until spring!
Today I have an anniversary card to share with you.  This card was cased from one that I saw in an issue of Stampin' Success magazine.  That's the SU demonstrator exclusive magazine which is chock full of ideas and inspiration for paper crafting.  I love it!

I sent this one to my cousins for their wedding anniversary.  I know she LOVES Pool Party, so I had to include that color on the card!
