An Unexpected Result

There are days when I sit down in my craft room and I have this great idea in my head.  I pull out all of the supplies I know I'm going to use and I settle in to stamping.  Then halfway through the project I hit a huge road block.  The idea in my head just doesn't translate to the project sitting in front of me.  Does this ever happen to you?

For this card, I got the card base, Basic Black and DSP layers down and then....nothing.  The idea for the focal point of the card just wasn't working.  Sometimes when this happens, I find that the best thing to do is walk away.  Sure, I could get frustrated.  Maybe I could get some short term satisfaction over ripping the card to shreds in a mini temper tantrum, but later I would regret that decision.

I like to let things marinate.

By giving my brain some time to process the idea, I came to the realization that the direction I was taking the card in was wrong.  So instead, I went back to my clean and simple style of stamping.  I pulled out the Stitched with Cheer stamp set because I knew that the images would coordinate beautifully with the DSP I had chosen.  This card is just so easy to make, and I absolutely love the end result: classy and simple!  Some two step stamping, and overlapping the "Holly" in the sentiment with the actual holly image gave me the design harmony I was craving!

Color Throwdown #355

Hi Stampers!

I'm using more new product today for the Color Throwdown challenge.  I think I buy a snowflake set every single year.  I just LOVE snowflakes!  (Too bad I hate real snow.)  Here's the color combo for this week's Color Throwdown.  If you want to play along, just click on the image below to go to their blog.

I went with Pacific Point, Tempting Turquoise, and Smokey Slate as my colors for this throw down.  I thought they were perfect for a snowflake card!

It might be difficult to see in the picture, but for the turquoise snowflakes, I added some sparkle with Iridescent Ice Stampin' emboss powder.  This is really easy to do with photopolymer stamps.  First I stamped the snowflakes with the Tempting Turquoise ink.  After the ink has dried, I stamp again with Versamark and then heat emboss with the embossing powder.  It's really easy to line up the images because of the see through photopolymer stamps.

I also added some of the fun new bling from the catalog to certain snowflakes for some extra sparkle! These are the Winter Wonderland Embellishments.  Do you also see the two new punches I used on this card?

Hope that you have enjoyed my card today.  Tell me what products from the new catalog you are most excited about in the comments!

Christmas Bliss Merry Christmas - Merry Monday Challenge #128

Hi Stampers!

Today I have a Christmas card to share with you.  This one was a lot of fun to make! I also got to use up some scraps which always makes me a happy camper.  I really do not use Wild Wasabi as much as I should.  It's a great color for holiday projects! I am also entering this for the Merry Monday Challenge #128!

See the little scrap of Brushed Silver???

I decorated the interior panel of the card as well.  The Christmas Bliss stamp set has some great sentiment stamps that are perfect for the insides of cards.

Thanks for checking out my post!  I love comments!  :-)

Updated to add that I was chosen as a Favorite of the Week on Splitcoast Stampers!  YAY!
