Freshly Made Sketches 125

Hi Stampers!

Today I have a card for this weeks challenge over on the Freshly Made Sketches blog.

Here's this week's sketch.  It is pretty basic so I had to think outside of the box to decide on how I was going to embellish on it.

First I decided on which Designer Series Paper I wanted to use, and from that I chose my color combo. I went with something bright and cheery - the Quatrefancy DSP!

I thought that a little bit of Daffodil Delight and Melon Mambo would be nice on a day we are expecting more STUPID SNOW!

To make the flower, I stamped the image from the Simple Stems stamp set three times - once in Island Indigo, once in Melon Mambo, and one final time in Daffodil Delight.  Then I cut out the different layers of flowers.  I used my two-way glue pen to add some Dazzling Diamonds around each flower edge for extra sparkle.  I layered them with Dimensionals and added a Basic Rhinestone to the center.  The final step was to stamp the sentiment from the Gifts of Kindness stamp set in Melon Mambo.

In Color Summer Starfruit Card

Hi Stampers!

I'm here with a quick post today to show you the card that I have included with my September In Color Club packets.  I always like to make something monochromatic, and here's what I came up with for this month!  I like the non-traditional size of this card.  I think the size suits the layout and the stamp set.

Here's a close up of the bow.  I used the "fork" technique to make the bow.  This is a technique that my upline taught me.  Obviously, I still need some practice, however, the bow shape is very cute.

Stampin' Supplies:
Cardstock: Summer Starfruit, Whisper White
Stamps: Carry On (hostess)
Ink: Summer Starfruit
Other: Summer Starfruit 3/8" Stitched Satin Ribbon

Only 3 days left for you to get FREE RIBBON!!!!

Hi Stampers!  Welcome to day 3 of my Button Buddies class samples.  It was a busy weekend so I didn't get as much accomplished in the way of setting up blog posts.  Hopefully, I will have some time this week because I want to post some sneak peeks at the upcoming Chock-Full of Cheer class!  If you are in the Central NJ area and are interested in taking this class, email me at sarah@demmeni.org.

Button Buddies Day 2

Hi Stampers!

I'm back with the second card from my Button Buddies class.  I just love the bunch of cherries stamp from the set.  It's my favorite one of them all!  I have a really fun cherry apron that I received at my bridal shower.  It was the inspiration for this card because the colors on the apron are Real Red and Gumball Green!

It's hard to see in this picture, but I have bent up the ends of the strips of DSP just to give it a little more dimension.

Stampin' Supplies:
·      5 ½” x 8 1/2” and 2 1/8” x 2 1/8” Whisper White Cardstock
·      4” x 5 ¼”and 2 3/8”x 2 3/8” Gumball Green Cardstock
·      2 ¼” x 2 ¼” Real Red Cardstock
·      1” x 4” Polka Dot Parade Designer Series Paper
·      1” x 4” and 1” x 5” Summer Smooches Designer Series Paper

Rhode Island Regional Swap #3

Today is the last day of my full reveals of the swaps I made for Regionals.  Are you sad???  Don't worry!  My next post will feature projects from my Button Buddies class as well as a sneak peek at the upcoming Embellished Events class.

My final swap was one I made for an organized swap with the ladies of SUDSOL.  I wanted to make a fun Halloween card that featured a lot of the new products from the Holiday Catalog.

I apologize for the off centering of this photo!  I made a big boo boo and accidentally deleted the full image of this card front.  Don't you hate when you do that?  I went with this picture instead because you can see the most of the card front!

Are you wondering what new products are featured here?  See the Stampin' Supplies list below.  Anything with a * next to it is new and featured in the Holiday Catalog.

Have you ever worked on a project and wanted just the right type of ribbon but didn't have it?  Maybe a patterned ribbon, or one in a specific color?  One that has a sentiment on it?  Then the new 7/8" Cotton Ribbon is for you!

This ribbon is so great because you can stamp on!  It works beautifully with our Classic Stampin' Pads. The Border Banter stamp set is made just for this purpose, but there are no limits to what you can stamp on the ribbon.  My favorite is stamping the sentiment on the ribbon.  I think it just adds an extra special touch to your project.

Stampin' Tip!
To make a very faint pattern on the ribbon, as I have done here with the Gumball Green chevron pattern, ink up your stamp and then stamp it off on a piece of scratch paper (or Stampin' Up! Grid Paper!) and then stamp on the ribbon.  This give you a subtle hint of color and pattern.  Try it out!

Stampin' Supplies:
Cardstock: Pumpkin Pie, Basic Black
DSP: Howlstooth and Scaringbone*
Ink: Gumball Green, Basic Black, Versamark, Tangerine Tango (for sponging)
Stamps: Toxic Treats*, Border Banter*
Other: Labels Collection Framelits, Gumball Green Embossing Powder*, 7/8" Cotton Ribbon*, Heat tool, Sponge dauber

Rhode Island Regional Swap #2

Hi Stampers!

I'm back with my second swap from Regionals.  On this card I really wanted to keep it simple!  I like cards that don't take a lot of time to make.  This is a great card to make if you are a beginning stamper as well. Plus it features a great technique - Two Step Stampin'!

Look at how simple this card is!  It's simple, yet so much fun!  Wouldn't you love to receive a card like this in the mail??  Don't you just love that designer series paper?  I can't get enough of the International Bazaar Designer Series Paper. I had to order a second pack of it so I wouldn't run out of any of the patterns.

Here's a close up of the Two Step Stampin' technique.  I also added some Dazzling Details to the center to give a little extra sparkle!

Stampin' Tip!
When you are doing Two Step Stampin', do not get hung up on trying to align the two stamps perfectly.  They are not meant to match up.  It's purposely supposed to look a little like coloring outside of the lines.  I know it's hard to let go of being a perfectionist, but when you are Two Step Stampin' you just have to go with the flow!  You will have a lot more fun stamping with this technique if you do! :-)

Stampin' Supplies:

Cardstock: Calypso Coral, Pool Party, Whisper White
DSP: International Bazaar
Stamps: Kindness Matters, Reason to Smile
Ink: Island Indigo, Calypso Coral
Other: Dazzling Details

Rhode Island Regional Swap #1

Hi Stampers!

I'm back from the Rhode Island Regional Event.  What an amazing time!  I came home so inspired!  It's definitely one of the best perks of being a Stampin' Up! demonstrator!  I did quite a bit of swapping while I was out at the Regional.  Today I'm going to show you the first swap I made.

This is a really easy CAS (Clean And Simple) card to make.  I love that it features all five of our new In Colors.  For a little extra glitz I added the Basic Rhinestones!

Here's a close up of the sentiment tag.  I sponged the ends of it with Midnight Muse and popped it up on dimensionals to make it stand out on the white background.

Swap Prep Tip!
If you are swapping a card like this (whether with your stamping friends or at an event) the best way to go about it is to stamp all the images of one color first.  Also stamp the lightest color first.  So I went about making these cards by stamping all of the Summer Starfruit flowers first, followed by the Primrose Petals, Raspberry Ripple, etc.

Wouldn't this make a great birthday or get well soon card as well?  How would you take it to the next level?

Stampin' Supplies:
Cardstock: Whisper White, Gumball Green
Stamps: Betsy's Blossoms, Sweet Essentials
Ink: Gumball Green, Raspberry Ripple, Primrose Petals, Summer Starfruit, Midnight Muse
Other: Modern Label Punch, Basic Rhinestones, Sponge Dauber, Dimensionals

My Top 10 Favorite Holiday Catalog Items

Everyone loves when Stampin' Up! releases a new catalog.  Not only is it exciting to see all of the new products, but the catalogs are chock full of project ideas and the layouts are beautiful.  They are just so much fun to flip through and, of course, make wish lists!  With every new catalog release, I like to make my own list of my Top 10 Favorites!  So without further adieu here is my list from the 2012 Holiday Catalog.....

10.  Core'dinations Card Stock
Who would have thought that ripping your card stock would be so much fun and add such beautiful dimension to your projects!?!?!  Dry embossing and then sanding?  Yes, please!  And it comes in three great colors: Cherry Cobbler (127846), Early Espresso (127848), and Gumball Green (127847).  All perfect colors to include in your holiday cards.

9. Snow Festival Designer Series Paper

Everyone has different styles when it comes to designing their holiday cards.  My style is very fun and whimsical!  I can't wait to use this fun new paper on my cards.  I love the little animal characters on the papers.  It coordinates with the Owl Occasions stamp set as well!

8. Scentsational Season
A really fun stamp set for holiday cards!  Coordinating framelits make cutting out the images a snap!  Great for cards or any other holiday project you can imagine.  Don't you love the cute steaming mug???  These stamps would be great for making tags to attach to packages of Christmas cookies.

7. Friendship Preserves
This set is so great!  They can be the focal point of a card or just a sentiment.  You can use them on 3D projects.  Stamp them in one color for a monochrome look or use your Stampin' Write makers to make them multicolored!

6. Festive Paper Piercing Pack
Paper piercing is such an easy way to add something special to your paper crafting project!  These templates make perfect piercing a snap!  They coordinate with the Window Frames, Holiday Ornaments, and Labels collection Framelits.

5. Window Frames Framelits Collection
A really fun shape!  The ideas I have for this Framelit set are endless.  Plus they coordinate with the Friendship Preserves stamp set and the Festive Paper Piercing pack to make designing a beautiful card so easy.  Don't you love when everything is coordinated???

4. Snow Festival Designer Printed Tags
New to stamping?  These tags make for a great beginner project!  Combine them with some simple embellishments and a sentiment stamp.  Voila!  Handmade gift tags for all of your wrapped holiday gifts!  They can also be a focal point on a card!

3. Greetings of the Season
Before the release of the 2012-2013 Annual Catalog, the retired stamp list was released and I was so sad to see one of my favorite Christmas sentiment sets was gone.  I kept hoping that a new sentiment set would be released.  Sure enough, Stampin' Up! released this great Christmas sentiment set!  I love it and it makes letting go of the retired set a little easier.  :-)  This is a must have for your holiday craft projects!

2. Season of Sweets Designer Kit
If you are like me, one of your favorite things to do during the holiday season is baking Christmas cookies!  I love wrapping up all of my cookies and going around to everyone's offices at work to drop off my little bit of holiday cheer.  This year, I can't wait to drop off some treats using this kit!  Just think of how much more impressed my co-workers will be when they get a cookie wrapped in one of these!  It add just that special touch that you need at the holiday time.  Make sure you use your Sweet Pressed Cookie stamps to make the cookies you wrap up!  Also works great with all of our baker's twine!

1. Googly Ghouls
I am a complete sucker for all things Halloween!  I love everything about it!  How cute are these stamps?  As soon as I saw them I had to order them.  I mean, look at that bat!  Now pair them up with the Googlies (127539) and the Ghoulish Googlies Designer Kit (126914) and you have some fabulous (and easy to make) Halloween treats for all of the little Halloweenies in your life!

I hope you have had fun reading my Top 10 list from the 2012 Holiday Catalog!  Leave a comment telling me what are your favorite items!  I would love to hear from you.
